The house rules, explanations and information can also be found in a folder in the holiday home itself. Would you please keep these rules in mind when renting our vacation rental in Valbonne.
 

Security of You and your children
De security of you and your children during your stay is our highest priority. We kindly ask you to read at least this part of the map.

General practitioner
Miss.Jolanda Weerts, 52 Rte Valbonne (0497257116) or Mr. Dirk Heering, 11 rte Presbytere (opposite of the Mairie in Valbonne) (0493129430). You first need to make an appointment by telephone. Payments needs to done in cash, PIN or credit card is not possible. A pharmacy is located on the Route du Rouret (direction Roquefort).

Swimming pool
According to the French law, we have installed a swimming pool alarm. However the liability for the use of the pool remains with the parents. The owner of the villa can never be held liable in case of accidents.

The liability and supervision of the parents is the best security for your children!

Unfortunately when the law became active to secure swimming pools not one single system appears to be working ok. First we installed a system in the water itself, however with each wind breeze the alarm started. Then we bought this expensive system with the 4 eyes, which also starts at night when a cat or fox would cross the eyes. Therefore we usually switch it off during our stay because its too annoying with the noise.

The manual will either be sent to you or can be found in the villa.
Incorrect usage will create inconvenience for the neighbourhood, because of the volume of the alarm. Also when used incorrectly the housekeeper needs to come to reset the whole alarm. With incorrect usage charges for this visit will have to be paid by renter.

Please do not open the big white box of the swimming pool where the equipment of the swimming pool is situated. The housekeeper is responsible for the pool maintenance and once a week a person will come and clean the pool.

Burglary
Unfortunately, there is a lot of crime in the South of France. Please make sure that all windows, hatches and doors are closed when you leave the villa to protect your and our belongings. We advise you to do this not only when you leave the villa but also when you are at the pool. We advise you to close the hatches when you sleep. Of course you can open the hatches of the bedroom at night. Please close the fence always at the entrance of the villa.

Be aware: The insurance of house owners in France does not provide coverage at burglary, when the hatches are NOT closed properly. Even if the windows were closed. We would like to emphasize that we will keep you liable in that case for eventual damage or losses, which will not be covered by our insurance.

Your personal belongings always need to be covered by your individual private travel insurance.

House rules 

Sofa’s and seats
Please do not sit in wet swimming wear on the sofas. Pool water and sun cream will damage the furniture.

Pets
Pets are not allowed in or around the villa unless agreed at reservation.

Smoking
We kindly request you to minimize smoking inside the villa.

Beds for swimming pool beds
It might sound very logical, but not for each renter it appears to be logical. At night and when its raining please make sure the cushion pads are inside. Last year we arrived and found 6 cushions soaking wet at the swimming pool….which we just bought 3 months ago.

Swimming pool and garden maintenance
1 time per week the swimming pool maintenance guy comes to clean the pool and once a week the garderer comes. You must always allow them on the grounds to do their work.

Parties and noise
Ofcourse you are free to welcome guests during the day, however parties at the pool are NOT permitted. The neighbours are caused inconvenience and we have nice neighbourghs and do not wish to upset them. After 10.00 in the evening its not allowed to make a lot of noise on the domaine.

Fireplace
Should you wish to use the fireplace, you can buy wood at the supermarket or at a gasoline station. Upon departure the fireplace should be cleaned. Our private stock of wood is not included in the rental price.

Thunderstorm
When there is a thunderstorm, please plug out the internet connection, tv and decoder.

Dishwasher
Clean plates etc before you put it in the dishwasher otherwise the pomp gets blocked. In the little cabinet next to the dishwasher you’ll find soap and rinse-aid. Should you use the last soap or rinse-aid please have it replaced.

Electricity
Please do not use the dishwasher, oven, wachine machine and dryer at the same time, this will cause problems with the electricity. Only one or two machines at the same time.

Departure
We kindly request you to leave the villa on Saturday before 10.00 hrs. In case something is damaged or broken, please inform the housekeeper, upfront. Please note following for departure:

BBQ is clean and stored in the garage
All litter is thrown away (next to the tennis court you can deposit your litter)
All beds, cushions or other things you have taken out of the garage are place back in the garage where you found it.

When linen is rented, please remove this from the beds and place it in the living room on one pile.
Clear the refrigerator and frigde – leave all empty
When the fireplace is used, please leave it empty and clean
Please leave sufficient toiletpaper behind for new renters to have enough stock for one day.

Housekeeper
You will receive the key of our villa upon arrival from Eve or Alex, the house keepers. You will also receive the code of the fence, which is needed to enter the domain by car.

The villa is clean when you arrive. The villa will be cleaned after your stay.

Baker/supermarket
Please turn right when you leave the domain. Go straight at the roundabout and at the left side you will find a bakery. A very good supermarket (Carrefour) you will find a little bit further at the right. The Carrefour is open from Monday until Saturday until 20.00 hrs. Please look at the signs which supermarket is open on Sundays.

A big Carrefour you’ll find in Antibes at the exit to the A8

In Valbonne centre, at the central parking space you will find a fantastic Italian traiteur with great home made products, a superb fruit and vegetable store with a great assortment, a butcher (also traiteur) and a bakery. The quality of these shops is very high but the prices are equivalent. All these shops are opened on Sunday mornings.

Tennis courts
The tennis courts are free for usage for our guests. You can make reservations with the key, which you will find in the drawer of the table in front of the fireplace (with the yellow tag). You can find tennis rackets and tennis balls in the garage. After usage, please return the key in the same drawer so new renters can also find it.

Central Swimming pool of Domaine Val d’Azur
This swimming pool is the ideal meeting place for children. You will find the pool at the left side of the road, almost halfway to the exit gate of the domain. Special parking places are available along the road. There is also a playground for children, a table tennis table, a petanque court and a volleyball court. Usages of all these facilities are free for our guests.

Bathroom
To activate the shower in the master bathroom, please pull the ring at the end of the tap. Also a hairdryer is available. 

Books
U can use all books in our house. Novels can be exchanged. So you can always finalize your book, when you leave another book. Other books like Michelin guide or maps need to stay in the villa.

Newspapers
Newspapers from all countries are available at the Kiosk at the central parking place in the centre of Valbonne. For most countries the newspaper of the day is available after 15.00 hrs. The local French newspaper is the Nice Matin (in several local editions).This newspaper has a reliable weather forecast.

Instructions for TV and satellite decoder:
Please activate the TV with the large grey remote control by pressing the top green button. Then take the small dark grey remote control to switch channels (this is the remote control of the decoder). Never switch off the decoder, but swith the tv off with the large grey remote control by hitting the green button. Teletext can be viewed by pressing the little green teletext sign on the large grey remote control (button next to button Menu.

During thunderstorm please unplug the tv, decoder and wireless internet.

Wireless Internet
We offer a unsecured wireless internet which means you can directly get online. In case the system does not work immediately, please unplug the wireless system in the hall from electricity, wait two minutes and try again. NEVER reset the system by hitting the reset button. This means our technical guy must come to reset the whole system. In case this happens, we will charge you for these costs.

Electricity
Power supply is in France sometimes unreliable. In the garage, left, you find the switchboard. If one of the switches is down, you can put it up to provide you again with electricity.

Heating
Our house is heated by electrical heaters. Switch them on on the right side and temperature can be set by the button on top of the electrical heaters.

Garbage
You can deposit your garbage at the dedicated area’s on the domain e.g. directly at the right side after the tennis courts. Please take away all garbage at the day of departure.

Washing machine
Due to high levels of calcium in the water, please use Calgon every time you use the washing machine. When you use the last bit, please replace Calgon for next renters.

Kitchen equipment
Oven and stove is easy and self-explanatory.

Dishwasher:
self explanatory, but manual in drawer of kitchen.

Please make sure you remove litter from plates etc before putting them in the dishwasher, otherwise it gets stuck. Last year the dishwasher got broke, just 3 months after we bought it. When the technician came he removed hundreds of pistache nuts from the dishwasher… that’s why it was blocked.

In case we have to have the dishwasher repaired because of wrong usage, we will charge you for these costs. In high season it might not possible to get a technician straight away so you might end up doing the dishes by hand for several days.

Coffee machines
In one of the kitchen cupboards youll find a normal coffee machine: Prepare this one with coffee and water and push 0/I. Please use mineral water for the coffee machine. For reasons we don’t understand it switches off after a while, so best to put coffee after done in thermos (vacuum flask)

A senseo coffee machine is also available. Senseo pads are for sale in all supermarkets. Please use mineral water as well.
A Nespresso machine is also available. Pls bring your own cups.

Private
Our private belongings (line, clothing etc.) are at the cupboard of the master bedroom. We assume that you will not touch our personal belongings. In the kitchen you may use everything. We would appreciate it should something run out of stock that you replace this.

Garden
We kindly ask you to take care of plants (potted plants) in warm weather. Please provide them with some water.

Exterior lights
The switch for the exterior light for the terrace is situated at the right side of the fire place (when you stand in front of it). At the left side of the fireplace you find the switches for the lights in the swimming pool and the garden. In the corridor to the bedrooms you find a switch for additional lights in the garden. All these switches will light up when they are switched on. Please switch these off during the night or when you leave the house.

Games
In the villa you can use the table tennis table, petangue, beach ball etc. Also the mountain bikes and golf sets can be used. The codes to the bycicle locks can be found in this ordner.
